Danielle A. Davis Canty, Esq. is the Director of Technology Policy at the Joint Center for Political and Economic Studies, where she leads the organization’s work on broadband access, content moderation, algorithmic accountability, and data privacy. A seasoned attorney with a focus on tech and telecom law, civil rights, and emerging technology, Danielle’s policy expertise centers on ensuring Black communities are not left behind in the digital age. She is the creator and host of The Miseducation of Technology, a podcast that explores how digital systems—from AI to surveillance—reinforce systemic inequities, and what we can do to reclaim agency and build more equitable tech futures. In 2025, she was named to the inaugural (Un)Hidden Figures List list by the Brookings Institution, recognizing her as one of the leading Black women shaping the future of artificial intelligence policy. She holds a Juris Doctor from Barry University School of Law and dual bachelor’s degrees from Florida Atlantic University—a BS in General Economics and a BA in Political Science, graduating cum laude. An active member of the Florida Bar, the Federal Communications Bar Association, and the International Association of Privacy Professionals, she currently serves as Co-Chair of the FCBA’s Privacy and Data Security Committee.
